YearCompass translations

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this site?

The multi-language translations for the YearCompass project are managed via this website.

How can I help?

You can see all of the currently available translations here: (link). You can improve the translations on your own language, or you can be the first who translates the project to your language.

How do you know whether I finished with a language or not?

We don't :), until you notify us. If you finished the translation, please email us here: hello [at]

I cannot see my language. What should I do?

Please email us, and we'll activate it for you. Contact us here: hello [at]

What does 'Fuzzy' mean?

It means, that we changed the base text for the 'fuzzy' line. The translation of the line may be still accurate, but you need to check it.

How can I save the 'Fuzzy' lines?

Make sure, that the translation is correct, uncheck the box near the line and save it.

What should I do with the lines with brackets like [YearCompass in your own language]?

We would like to translate the text to your own language.

  • Example in Hungarian:
    • Year = Év
    • Compass = Iránytű
    • YearCompass = ÉvIránytű
    • #yearcompass = #éviránytű
  • Example in German:
    • Year = Jahr(es)
    • Compass = Kompass
    • YearCompass = JahresKompass
    • #yearcompass = #JahresKompass

What if the translation of YearCompass doesn't fit my language?

Leave it YearCompass then. Some of our translators reported, that translating YearCompass is a bit odd, so they'd like to leave it as is. That's ok, you know your language better than us, so if you feel the same, just replace [YearCompass in your own language] with YearCompass.

What does [Translators credit] mean?

We would like to thank you for your work by putting your name to the end of the booklet. If you feel ok with this extend the name list (comma separated) with your name in the [Translators credit] line.
